Live Work 2001 Project:
Working with Builder Magazine, "world-class" architect Andres
Duany, and production builder, Beazer Homes, MJP, Inc. designed and
specified kitchen and bathrooms for three show houses. Each unit had a
different challenge with a different client profile, a different size and
shape of space, and a different target price point. Following are photos
and details of these very unique urban infill Atlanta homes.

|
|
|
The loft, designed for a young single urbanite on a tight budget
of space and money. His home is also his work space. Notice the use of architectural
materials - concrete floor, brick wall.

|
|
Suspended cabinetry and curvilinear design make the most of a tight space in
the loft masterbath.

|
Warmth exudes from the "live above" kitchen in the woods used, the
bronze cast tiles, and other craftsman style details.

|
|
| The live above is designed on three floors
for a family with children that lives on the upper two floors and uses the main floor
as retail space that could also become a rental flat with kitchenette and full
accessible bath and separate entrance. For this small family the budget is a little
more generous in terms of money and much more so in space.

The Lifespan is designed on two floors
for a well-traveled affluent empty-nester couple with retail/office space on
the street side and living space on the back portion with a guest space on the
second floor. For this couple, the budget of space and cost is more generous.

| The master bath in the Lifespan home
features a luxury shower, claw foot tub, and his and her vanity areas.
